In Meireki 3(1657), Shirakawa Lord Honda Tadayoshi constructed this temple as a place to enshrine Benzaiten. Honda's monk of the Obaku sect took care of it and it became affiliated with the Obaku sect.
After that, Shirakawa Clan lord Matsudaira Yamatomori's family (tenure from 1692-1742) entered this religious dialogue and devotion, and Matsudaira Sadanobu's adopted grandfather, Matsudaira Sadataka (clan leader from 1742-1770), gave this temple the name 迭yukoji・ by which it is still known today.
