At 17, Masubuchi Katsuzo was military provisioner of the Utsunomiya Clan.
On May 20, 1868 (Keio 4), he was killed in Hosokura area.
He had a temporary burial, and the residents there were grieving deeply, so on July 26 they moved his remains to Seiko Temple and erected a monument for prayer.
