Formerly in Ishikawa County, Odaka Village (now Tamagawa Village), Shirakawa Clan Matsudaira Yamatomori's family temple, Kokenji, was in decline; but in 1692, Matsudaira relocated it to Shirakawa and the priest there rebuilt it at its current location.
Koken Temple, Matsudaira's Temple, was moved to Himeji, and at Choju Temple one priest from Koken Temple stayed behind, and made at this temple the mausoleum to honor the memory of the buried Shirakawa Clan lords.
