＜Michinoku Folk Art, Shirakawa Daruma＞
• Shirakawa Darumas’ eyebrows are like cranes, the whiskers are a turtle, the beard is a pine, sideburns are plum, and the underside of the face is a bamboo design. The entire thing is characterized by a plump and happy countenance, and the high quality is considered one of Japan’s best.
• Every February 11th, Darumaichi is held in Shirakawa City, on Nakadori. Along the main street of Shirakawa City, there is a row of Daruma stands on display, and crowds of people come to buy daruma. Certainly come here sometime.
• There is a daruma painting experience and you can create your own original daruma design. When it is finished you can take it with you.
