This temple mount (Chuko temple) is said to have been opened in Oei 15 (1408) by the monk, Enjun.
At Shirasaka inn, Oshoya, on the Oshu Highway, Shirasaka Ichinosuke, a vassal of Edo, was taken in by Shirakawa Town elder, Omori. Afterwards he worked with him at the troop headquarters and was a wholesaler, continuing with the Shirasaka family until, on April 25 of the leap year, the West Army called him out and killed him on the outskirts of town.
Shirasaka Ichinosuke's grave was put in Kannon Temple to set an example for people.
In addition, when West Army commander Sakai and his subordinates, Matsuoka and Seiguchi, were stationed at Shirasaka, the East Army attacked and killed them. A stray bullet also took the life of farmer Sendaiya Kishichi. The tombs of Commander Sakai and his subordinates are all together at Kannon Temple, and were kept up by the descendants of Sendaiya Kishichi.
