On April 25, 1868 (Keio 4), 13 patrol members of Keicho’s Ogaki troops were lurking in ditches and trees on the Oshu Highway as they pushed toward the East Army battle formation at Inari Mountain, but they were caught and beheaded.
In 1869 (Meiji 2), “Satcho Ogaki’s 13 graves” were built, but in 1915 (Taisho 4), the seven members of Satsuma Clan were moved to the Satsuma Clan Cemetery (Chingo Shinzan).
The Meiji Emperor in June of 1876 (Meiji 9) and Prince Togu Yoshihito in September of 1909 (Meiji 41) both burned incense and prayed here.
