From the Edo Period to the beginning of Showa, there were up to 26 water wheels for pounding rice in the Yanta River basin. In Heisei 15 (2003) “Traces of Shimizuya” were restored, and the feeling of that time was revived. We recommend taking a walk on the small path along the river inside the green darkness, where one can hear the murmur of the river, see hydrangeas during the rainy season, and splendid colors in autumn.
